Our Faith: The Bible

The Bible is the complete written word of God. There are five fundamental qualities of the Bible.

1

Authority of the Scriptures

The Bible is divinely authoritative and binding in what it teaches and commands.

"If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord." - 1 Corinthians 14:37
2

Inspiration of the Scriptures

The Bible is God's word, having been wholly given through special revelation by God to men.

"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." - 1 Peter 1:20-21
3

Preservation of the Scriptures

The Bible has been entirely and perfectly preserved, in every word, to every generation.

"...Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." - Matthew 5:18
4

Inerrancy of the Scriptures

The Bible is entirely true, free from all error or contradiction.

"...the scripture cannot be broken." - John 10:35
5

Sufficiency of the Scriptures

The Bible is the complete revelation of God to men, sufficient for all matters pertaining to faith and practice.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
