Our Fellowship: The Church

The church is the collective body of Christian believers. There are five fundamental facts about the church.

1

Biblical Basis

The church is founded upon and bound by the scriptures as its sole ultimate authority.

"And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone." - Ephesians 2:20
2

Regenerated Community

The church is exclusively composed of true believers in Christ, who have subsequently professed their faith in baptism.

"...the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." - Acts 2:47
3

Separated Conduct

The church is called by God to holiness, to live in a righteous manner, both individually and corporately.

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." - 2 Corinthians 6:17-18
4

Local Gathering

The church is a local congregation of believers who regularly meet together in a definite, physical location.

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." - Hebrews 10:25
5

Autonomous Government

The church is run by a locally-appointed board of elders, independent of external governance.

"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." - Acts 20:28
